Liz Cheney, daughter of Dick and very much his heir, has moved to Wyoming, surrounded by rumors of a possible Senate run.
Unlike the Darth Vader story, the children of Darth Cheney will not redeem him. Liz Cheney has been a vigorous defender of the worst parts of her Father's regime (which she served in), including torture, Iraq and so on. Liz does not offer a new, improved version of the ideology that ruined the beginning of the 21st Century.
The path Liz is on is a return to power, not a return to the light.

Daughter of Darth
Rumor of the Day: Liz Cheney, daughter of the dark one himself is thinking about running for office.
The Dark Lord's return, and all that.

They Think He's Coming Back
Matt Y flags this from the New York Times:
A half-dozen former senior Bush officials involved in counterterrorism told me before the Christmas Day incident that for the most part, they were comfortable with Obama’s policies, although they were reluctant to say so on the record. Some worried they would draw the ire of Cheney’s circle if they did.
Why would they fear Cheney? I mean, yes, he's a evil, vindictive son-of-a-bitch, but he's never going to be in power again, right? I mean, he was the most unpopular part of a disastrously unpopular Administration. He's never going to get elected to anything ever again. He will never be a position to punish people for praising Obama Administration policies, would he? He is as dead politically as we have in American. Unless...
I've been using the wrong pop culture reference to understand Cheney. What if he isn't "Darth Cheney?" What if he really is destined to return, in defiance of all logic and common sense? I mean, the only way he could come back is dark magic, right? Really dark.
Do we need to start calling him the Vice-President-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named?

Keys to the Kingdom
Well, it may not be the missing time on the Nixon White House Tapes, but there could be something real there:
The White House has announced a settlement in a lawsuit filed by two good-government groups concerning emails that went missing over a two-and-a-half year period during the Bush administration.
Under the terms of the deal, 94 days of emails -- which could shed light on controversial topics that the Bush administration sought to obscure from public view, such as the Valerie Plame scandal and the run-up to the war in Iraq -- will be transferred to the National Archives, and eventually made public.
Now, the Bush Administration fought long and hard to keep these e-mails from the light of day, including lying about whether the e-mail even existed, so I'm assuming that they contain a bit more than Karl Rove's lunch order. Normally, this stuff would only be useful for the historians, but with Cheney and daughter-of-Cheney running around telling us how to run the Country, know the inside scoop on how they messed it up is pretty usfull.

Dick Cheney: Still Evil
Keep in mind that as we chew over Obama's new moves on Afghanistan, he is cleaning up after the worst of the worst.

So Confused
Cheney supports gay marriage.
If only every conservative jerk was issued a gay daughter, this debate would be so over.

Hanging Around
Blago is still on TV.
Dick Cheney is still evil. And wants his nation to be evil like him.
Where is this "change" I keep hearing about.

Hackery
The Vice President's Chief of Staff is still claiming the the Vice President is his own branch of government. What an evil undemocratic hack. In an effort to shield his boss from all accounting and responsibility, this man is willing to carve up our Constitutional order with nothing more than a legal memo.

Ground Zero
Its like Cheney is some kind of event horizon of lawlessness, crushing our Constitutional order from within. Now the Secret Service is caught up in it too:
The arrest of a man named Steven Howards in June 2006 after he approached Vice President Dick Cheney at a Colorado ski resort and denounced the war in Iraq might have seemed, at the time, no more than a blip on the vice president’s schedule.
But now the blip has become a blowup, with Secret Service agents — under oath in court depositions — accusing one another of unethical and perhaps even illegal conduct in the handling of Mr. Howards’s arrest and the official accounting of it.
The revelations arise from a lawsuit Mr. Howards filed against five Secret Service agents, accusing them of civil rights and free-speech violations. They offer a rare glimpse into the inner workings of the Secret Service, which usually wears the standoffish, plainclothes cool of its mission like a cloak of invisibility.
So they arrested an anti-war protester with no cause and then tried to cover up this fact by claiming the man tried to assault the VP. Its no coincidence that all of these things start with Cheney. The man has no respect for the law and he is in charge. When the guy in charge has no respect for the law, no one else does ether.

Mistake
Who though that it would be a good idea to let the Vice President go hunting again? Does anyone really think that any good could possibly come of this? Didn't Cheney know better?
I mean, does the Vice President have such a deep, overwhelming need to kill something fuzzy that he just blows past the clear fact that no good will ever come his hunting?

Health
From Sunday Morning Chats, Speaker Pelosi v Fox edition:
Wallace: When you pray for President Bush, what do you pray for?
Pelosi: I pray that -- well, at the same as I pray for him, I pray for America's children and that there can be some compatibility in their thinking. But I pray for his health, his well being. I pray that he makes the right decisions for the American people. But when I . . .
Think of Vice President Cheney and pray for President Bush's health.

Back to Powerless VPs
A top noch proposal. Let us return the Vice Presidency back to its original Constitution worth. A Pitcher of warm spit and/or piss.

Stunned
Check out an amazing look at Vice President Cheney's efforts to make torture the official policy of the land. This is where torture comes from. Cheney is powerful like no Vice-President before him. He has the ability to set policy, but none of the accountability that goes with that power. People just don't pay that much attention to the office of Vice President. Cheney will never run for office on his own, so he will never be accountable to the voters. Power plus No Accountability equals torture.

Evil Now Has its Own Branch of Government
Holy Founding Fathers!:
Vice President Cheney exempted his office from the presidential order that establishes government-wide procedures for safeguarding classified national security information. The Vice President asserts that his office is not an “entity within the executive branch.”
So in order to avoid revealing what they are up to, the office of the Vice-President now claims that they are their own branch of government, something other than the executive. They are up to no good, so I understand the need for secrecy, but really!
Rahm Emanuel reponds by asking Cheney to Please Get The Heck Out Of The White House
