Timing

I am a firm believer that timing is everything in life - love, money, comedy - everything comes down to timing. Which brings us to the fustrating fact that Bush's job approval ratings have tanked about six months too late:

Bush's job approval is at 44 percent, with 54 percent disapproving.

If only 7% of the American people could have come to this decision six months sooner. Timing people, timing. But the real good news is that the GOP Congress is also in trouble:

Only 37 percent have a favorable opinion of the work being done by the Republican-controlled Congress.

These shmucks are up for reelection in 06. Charge!

Bush's low approval ratings is totally predictable from his historial approval ratings. By the 2006 election I bet he'll be in the mid 30s, unless there is an external event to pull up his ratings.

Well, and let's face it, Bush didn't win entirely on his approval ratings. There is also the fact that young people in this country, those most likely to be on the liberal side, opposing Bush, simply didn't vote in large enough numbers. But, hopefully, what will occur is such a backlash against the GOP that the next Republican presidential candidate won't stand a chance.

Here is an interesting factsheet on youth voting in the 2004 election.
